Whatever is True

God Works to Reconcile the World to Himself: Even His Judgements Contain His Hesed, His Great Love — Patterns of Love, a Working Exodus for the Peoples

Typologies

“earlier events, persons, and places in salvation history become patterns by which later events, persons, and places are interpreted — The Epic of Eden, Sandra Richter

Moses was a “type” of Jesus, like a precursor or foreshadowing.   Both were prophets and teachers.  They each instructed the people – leading and guiding.

AND MOSES called all Israel, and said to them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and ordinances which I speak in your hearing this day, that you may learn them and take heed and do them.  Deuteronomy 5:1 AMPC

And then, one day, it will be to another for you to listen, for,

15 “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers—it is to him you shall listen—Deuteronomy 18:15 (ESV)

John the Baptist, alluded this prophecy of Moses, for the Jews were looking for the prophet he had spoken of

21 And they asked (John), “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.”. 25 They asked him, “Then why are you baptizing, if you are neither the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?” 26 John answered them, “I baptize with water, but among you stands one you do not know, 27 even he who comes after me, the strap of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.” 28   John 1:21, 25-27 (ESV)

Then, the next day, John the Baptist, identified Jesus as the Prophet.

29 The next day (John the Baptist) saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, Who Takes Away the Sin of the World! 30 This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who ranks before me, because he was before me.’ 31 I myself did not know him, but for this purpose I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel.” John 1:29–31

24 And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came after him, also proclaimed these days. 25 You are the sons of the prophets and of fthe covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your offspring shall all The Families of the Earth be blessed.’ 26 God, having Raised Up His servant, sent him to you first, To Bless You by Turning Every One of You From Your Wickedness.”

Yes,

With each new day, We Are All again, given an opportunity to heed the words of the Prophet, Jesus.

Again, He sets a definite day, [a new] Today, [and gives another opportunity of securing that rest] saying through David after so long a time in the words already quoted, Today, if you would hear His voice and when you hear it, do not harden your hearts. [Ps. 95:7, 8.]            Hebrews 4:7 AMPC

For the Exodus was not just about delivering the Israelites, God knew that ultimately His promise was for all peoples, even the Egyptians.  It was by design that God hardened Pharaoh’s heart, So That, future generations would hear about, know, and fear (Revere/Worship) Him

But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt, he will not listen to you (Moses). Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites. And The Egyptians Will Know that I am the Lord when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”  Exodus 7:3-5 NIV

It is true, for,

Through the great plagues preceding the Exodus of the Israelites, we hear Pharaoh, deemed a god/deity to his people, saying to Moses

Pray to the Lord to take away the frogs…8:8

…now pray for me 8:28

We see God determining to make a distinction between His people and the Egyptians,

I will make a distinction between my people and your people. This sign will occur tomorrow.’”  Exodus 8:23 NIV

So That, Pharoah would learn

Pharaoh investigated and found that not even one of the animals of the Israelites had died. Yet his heart was unyielding, and he would not let the people go.   Exodus 9:7

We, also, hear God declaring through Moses to Pharoah

‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, So That they may worship me, or this time I will send the full force of my plagues against you and against your officials and your people,

And, So That,

..you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth. But I have raised you up for this very purpose, That I Might Show You My Power and That My Name Might Be Proclaimed in All The Earth.

We then see even those Egyptians that heed the Word of the Lord experience His protection.

Those officials of Pharaoh who feared the word of the Lord hurried to bring their slaves and their livestock inside. But those who ignored the word of the Lord left their slaves and livestock in the field.

Ultimately, even Pharoah acknowledges his sin

“This time I have sinned,” he said to them. “The Lord is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong. Pray to the Lord, for we have had enough thunder and hail. I will let you go; you don’t have to stay any longer.”  Exodus 9:7, 13-14, 16, 20-21, 27-28 NIV

So why then does God continue to harden Pharoah’s heart?…my only conclusion is a hard fought for city is a much-remembered battle.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials, So That, I may perform these signs of mine among them That You May Tell Your Children and Grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians, and how I, performed my signs among them, and That You May Know That I am the Lord.”

Henceforth,

Pharaoh quickly summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “I have sinned against the Lord your God and against you. Now forgive my sin once more and pray to the Lord your God to take this deadly plague away from me.”  Exodus 10:1-2, 16-17 NIV

Finally, following the final plague Pharoah says,

“Go, worship The Lord”

Not your Lord or Your God but The Lord

“as you have requested. Take your flocks and herds, as you have said, and go.   And also… Bless Me.”  Exodus 12:32 NIV

If then Moses is a typology of Jesus, then when Jesus returns, it will not be for one nation or people group, but His people from out of the World.

In church circles we call this the rapture.  Jesus like Moses comes effecting the release of His people from captivity.

For the Lamb Who is in the midst of the throne will be their Shepherd, and He will guide them to the springs of the waters of life; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. [Ps. 23:2; Isa. 25:8; Ezek. 34:23.] Revelation 7:17 AMPC

He Jesus has defeated death and earned the right to open the seven seals leading up to this exodus from the world as we know it.

Then one of the elders [of the heavenly Sanhedrin] said to me, Stop weeping! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root (Source) of David, has won (has overcome and conquered)! He can open the scroll and break its seven seals! [Gen. 49:9, 10; Isa. 11:1, 10; Rev. 22:16.] And [now] they sing a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the scroll and to break the seals that are on it, for You were slain (sacrificed), and with Your blood You purchased men unto God from every tribe and language and people and nation. [Ps. 33:3.]  Revelation 5:5, 9 AMPC

The seventh angel then blew [his] trumpet, and there were mighty voices in heaven, shouting, The dominion (kingdom, sovereignty, rule) of the world has now come into the possession and become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ (the Messiah), and He shall reign forever and ever (for the eternities of the eternities)! [Ps. 22:28; Dan. 7:13, 14, 27.] Revelation 11:15 AMPC

After that I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse [appeared]! The One Who was riding it is called Faithful (Trustworthy, Loyal, Incorruptible, Steady) and True, and He passes judgment and wages war in righteousness (holiness, justice, and uprightness). [Ezek. 1:1.] His eyes [blaze] like a flame of fire, and on His head are many kingly crowns (diadems); and He has a title (name) inscribed which He alone knows or can understand. [Dan. 10:6.] He is dressed in a robe dyed by dipping in blood, and the title by which He is called is The Word of God. And the troops of heaven, clothed in fine linen, dazzling and clean, followed Him on white horses. From His mouth goes forth a sharp sword with which He can smite (afflict, strike) the nations; and He will shepherd and control them with a staff (scepter, rod) of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath and indignation of God the All-Ruler (the Almighty, the Omnipotent). [Ps. 2:9.] And on His garment (robe) and on His thigh He has a name (title) inscribed, king of kings and Lord of Lords. [Deut. 10:17; Dan. 2:47.]  Revelation 19:11-16 AMPC

For,

… from Jesus Christ the faithful and trustworthy Witness, the Firstborn of the dead [first to be brought back to life] and the Prince (Ruler) of the kings of the earth. To Him Who ever loves us and has once [for all] loosed and freed us from our sins by His own blood, [Ps. 89:27.] And formed us into a kingdom (a royal race), priests to His God and Father–to Him be the glory and the power and the majesty and the dominion throughout the ages and forever and ever. Amen (so be it). [Exod. 19:6; Isa. 61:6.] Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth shall gaze upon Him and beat their breasts and mourn and lament over Him. Even so [must it be]. Amen (so be it). [Dan. 7:13; Zech. 12:10.] Revelation 1:5-7 AMPC

So then, and till then

Be like clay shapen by the Father

And [what if] He thus purposes to make known and show the wealth of His glory in [dealing with] the vessels (objects) of His mercy which He has prepared beforehand for glory, Just as He says in Hosea, Those who were not My people I will call My people, and her who was not beloved [I will call] My beloved. [Hos. 2:23.] And it shall be that in the very place where it was said to them, You are not My people, they shall be called sons of the living God. [Hos. 1:10.]  Romans 9:23, 25-26 AMPC

Burn brightly for the Lord, and March around your cities without sword

For it is He,

Who makes winds His messengers, flames of fire His ministers. [Heb. 1:7.]  Psalm 104:4 AMPC
