Whatever is True

Who Do you Cry out to……First?

I am passionately in love with God because He listens to me. He hears my prayers and answers them. As long as I live I’ll keep praying to Him, for He stoops down to listen to my heart’s cry.  Psalms 116:1-2 TPT

…the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved.  I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal. For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law. Romans 10:1-3

The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart [k] As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who Trusts in Him will never be disgraced.” [l] 12 Jew and Gentile[m] are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who Call on him. 13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved [n]  Romans 10:8, 11-13

This is not just a New Testament teaching.  It is a promise throughout the Old Testament.

In times of trouble, may the Lord answer your Cry.  May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm.  May He send you help from His sanctuary and strengthen you from Jerusalem.  May He remember all your gifts and look favorably on your burnt offerings. Psalm 20:1-3

You also see the Psalmist’s promise/blessing come to life in the story of King Jehoshaphat of Judah when He gets in the cross hairs of King of Aram during battle.

The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father’s early years[a] and did not worship the images of Baal.  He sought his father’s God and obeyed His commands instead of following the evil practices of the kingdom of Israel.  So, the Lord established Jehoshaphat’s control over the kingdom of Judah 2 Chronicles 17:3-5

Yet,

31 …when the Aramean chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat in his royal robes, they went after him.

Thinking,

“There is the king of Israel!” they shouted. But Jehoshaphat Called out, and the Lord saved him. God helped him by turning the attackers away from him.  As soon as the chariot commanders realized he was not the king of Israel, they stopped chasing him. 2 Chronicles 18: 31-32

May we all, then, remember

…”in the day that I’m afraid, I lay all my fears before you and trust in you with all my heart. I trust in the Lord. And I praise him! I trust in the Word of God. And I praise him!”  Psalms 56:3, 10 TPT

Yes!

Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ. So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising Him always. Follow the example of all that we have imparted to you and the God of peace will be with you in all things. Philippians 4:6-9 TPT

For,

Blessing after blessing comes to those who love and trust the Lord. They will not fall away, for they refuse to listen to the lies of the proud.   Psalms 40:4 TPT

O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, what euphoria fills those who forever trust in you!  Psalms 84:12 TPT

Bring to Yahweh the sacrifice of righteousness and put your trust in Him. Psalms 4:5 TPT

He satisfies all who love and trust him, and He keeps every promise He makes.  Psalms 111:5 TPT
