Hope of Glory
Paul exhorted the church at Colossae,
I am happy to suffer for you now. In my body I am completing whatever remains of Christ’s sufferings. I am doing this on behalf of his body, the church. Colossians 1:24 GW
And so,
In return for my love, they accuse me, but I pray for them. With my mouth I will give many thanks to the Lord. I will praise him among many people, because he stands beside needy people to save them from those who would condemn them to death. Psalms 109:4, 30-31 GW
Oppressed people will eat until they are full. Those who look to the Lord will praise him. May you live forever. All the ends of the earth will remember and return to the Lord. All the families from all the nations will worship you because the kingdom belongs to the Lord and he rules the nations. Psalms 22:26-28 GW
So,
Don’t be troubled. Believe in God, and believe in me. My Father’s house has many rooms. If that were not true, would I have told you that I’m going to prepare a place for you? Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you’re going. So how can we know the way?” Jesus answered him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one goes to the Father except through me. “I can guarantee this truth: Those who believe in me will do the things that I am doing. They will do even greater things because I am going to the Father. Judas (not Iscariot) asked Jesus, “Lord, what has happened that you are going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus answered him, “Those who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will go to them and make our home with them. John 14:1-2, 5-6, 12, 22-23 GW
Because,
God wanted his people throughout the world to know the glorious riches of this mystery—which is Christ living in you, giving you the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27 GW
