A Home For Jesus
Has it occurred to us that Jesus did not have a home, no place to lay his head. The only place this world had for Him was Golgotha, the place of the skull. Lonely places, places only to be greeted by death.
But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. Luke 5:16 NIV
They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). Mark 15:22 NIV
We are instructed to give Him a place, a home in our hearts. How much time do we put in preparing a place for Him in our hearts so He can rest from all His labor for us? We keep demanding His return to save us from certain death, but we make no room to accommodate Him in our hearts.
For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit. 1 Thessalonians 4:7-8 NIV
Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. John 14:23 NIV
And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. 1 John 3:23-24 NIV
The call is on me, the call is on you, the call is on each of us individually
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 NIV
Oh that we will respond to the Spirit, oh Church, rise up, awake, and be found blameless. Give Him a suitable place to abide/rest: a home for Jesus, to live, breath, and walk in.
As for me and my house, in all humility,
“I will not enter my house or go to my bed, I will allow no sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, till I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.” Psalms 132:3-5 NIV
The earth belongs to the meek.
