Whatever is True

No Sorrow Can Break Us if We Remain in God and He in Us

Last night ended the Festival of Hanukkah or Lights.   Hanukkah celebrates the repurification and rededication of the Second temple following it’s desecration by Atiochus IV Ephiphanes.  Some modern scholars argue this king’s interference with the Jews was a result of the infighting between Maccabean and Hellenized Jews.

It is in unity that we are given God’s blessings.

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!  It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe.  It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.  Psalms 133:1-3 NIV

Tradition states following the purification and rededication of the temple that one days’ worth of oil burned eight days.  Biblically oil represents the Holy Spirit.

It is through the work of the Holy Spirit that we learn and apply God’s truth to life, that our character is built, that we are enabled to be like Jesus, that we are given power to speak the Good News and are equipped for ministry…that we are prepared as the Bride.

This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.  1 John 4:13-16 NIV

So… the flame of the Holy Spirit must be kept burning in our life, for God’s presence, because we only enter into His presence by way of the Gate, Jesus, as facilitated by the Holy Spirit.

And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves. Matthew 25:8-9

In the parable of the ten virgins, the oil is to be purchased, meaning a price is to be paid to obtain the oil. “To have a continual presence of God in our life, we are to pay a price, by spending time at the feet of Jesus. Only a substantial presence of God in our life can keep the fire burning through the dark nights. Such a person who has the fire burning in him at the time of the Bride Grooms return, will go in with Him.(https://hermeneutics.stackexchange.com/)

There is no sorrow that can quench God’s seven spirits.

From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God.  Revelation 4:5 NIV

These seven spirits are represented on the seven branches of the menorah as the spirit of knowledge, the spirit of counsel, the spirit of wisdom, the spirit of understanding, the spirit of strength, the spirit of the fear of the Lord, and the spirit of Yahweh

Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.  Revelations 5:6

Those who believe Jesus and accept His love are called more than conquerors because with God’s Spirit they cannot be vanquished.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:37-39 NIV

For…

…with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.  You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” Revelation 5:6, 9-10 NIV
